Mission & Beliefs

FBC Misson

This mission logo of First Baptist Church reveals an understanding of the essential components of vital faith-centeredness in the good news of God’s love revealed in Jesus Christ, a desire to encourage growth and maturity in one another by the power of the Holy Spirit, and a commitment to share God’s love with our community and world.

Our congregation has decided to work toward becoming an intentionally missional church.  The missional church’s focus is outward, toward the community.  Its activities do not always happen in a church building.  Mission is done with and not for those in the community.  We try to adjust to a rapidly changing culture, within a biblically-based model.  “Jesus said, ‘You did not choose me, but I chose you, and appointed you, that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain; that whatever you ask of the Father in my name, he may give to you.’ ” (John 15:16).

ABC 2As an American Baptist Church affiliate, our commitment to Jesus propels us to nurture authentic relationships with one another, build healthy churches, transform our communities, our nations and our world, engage every member in hands-on ministry, and speak the prophetic Word in love. Through the cross of Christ we embrace the world as neighbor with a vision that energizes a multitude of servant ministries of evangelism, discipleship, leadership, new church development, social justice, healing, peacemaking, economic development, and education.  Empowered by the Holy Spirit, we work together in mutual trust, humility, love, and giving that the gospel might be preached and lived in the world.
