What to Expect!

We gather for worship at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday.  The Sunday School hour for all ages begins at 9:15 a.m.  When you arrive, please visit our Welcome Center to gather information about First Baptist Church of Manhattan and fill out a name tag.

As you enter our sanctuary you receive a bulletin with the order of service and announcements.  Lyrics to all songs display on the screen.  The songbooks in the pews include the music for traditional hymns and, for songs not in the books, you can pick up song sheets from the Welcome Center .

During the worship service we take an offering. Please fill out a visitor’s card, and drop it in the offering plate.  Worship leaders indicate when to sit and stand throughout the service.  All we ask is that you come with a heart open to the Holy Spirit to worship our wonderfully graceful God.

Q: What type of worship service do you have?

A:  Our service consists of worship through songs, giving, communion, fellowship, and a sermon taken from Scripture and inspired by the Holy Spirit.

Q: What type of music do you have?

A:  Our blended worship bridges the generational gap by providing one service where all believers can come together to worship God.  We sing contemporary worship music, as well as traditional hymns.

Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.”  Psalm 100:1-2

Q: How long is your service?

A: Our service typically lasts about an hour.

Q: Who can take communion?

A: We offer communion on the first Sunday of the month and invite all believers in Jesus Christ who are present to share in this act of worship.

Q: Does your church have child care during service?

A: We have a fully staffed nursery just beyond the sanctuary for children who are not potty-trained.  After our Children’s Moment during the service an adult volunteer escorts potty-trained children through 3rd grade to “Children’s Church”.  You are, of course, welcome to keep your children with you during the worship service.

Q: What should I wear?

A: We want you to feel welcome and comfortable.  We believe that worship stems from the heart.  Some of the congregation wear jeans and t-shirts, while others wear suits and ties.  All we ask is that you come prepared to worship God through Jesus Christ.
